Social interaction is like a routine in man’s life. In fact, as a man you cannot avoid it because of the numerous avenues where you meet people. Thus it is very important to always be the best representation of yourself.

However, most of us while creating this self-representation, we usually forget to take care of one very important aspect – how we smell.

Did you know that women are consistently attracted to men who smell good? In recent research by Condala, 231 ladies in Kampala were asked how high they place scent in their male attractiveness charts.

How to smell good all the time

So what exactly can you do as a Ugandan man to ensure you always smell great? Here are quick tips you should apply to smell like a star.

1. Take two compulsory baths daily.

Take bath immediately you wake up in the morning. This helps you get rid of sleep sweat and freshens you up. Take another bath in the evening before you get to bed. A bath in the evening helps you get rid of the day’s sweat and dirt.

2. Change your clothes daily.

Most people change clothes for cleaning only when there’s visible dirt on them. On contrary, you should worry less on the appearance of dirt on your clothes and focus on smell when recycled or reused. Some men get used their body scent to a level that they can’t identify bad smell. Such bad smell usually comes when you reuse clothes.

3. Invest in a luxury spray or cologne.

You wouldn’t want to smell like every other Tom and Dick, would you? Sacrifice some shillings and buy yourself an exclusive luxury perfume with a unique and premium scent. Though such perfumes can be expensive, it is totally worth it.

4. Change your bedding weekly.

Just as you shouldn’t reuse the same clothes more than once without washing them, so should you not sleep in the same bedding more than a week. Humans shade skin and sweat while they asleep and this dirt clogs in their bedding. To maintain your good smell, don’t let this dirt ferment in your bedding.

5. Mind the state of your mouth.

You talk to people through your mouth and the most irritating work you can give to people listening to you is making them avoid your mouth pong without you noticing. Always brush your teeth at least two times a day. Floss your teeth daily and avoid alcoholic mouthwashes. Use sugar-free chewing gum to keep your mouth hydrated and give it a fresh breath.

6. Wash your clothing with scented detergents.

There are several detergents out there with great scents that can greatly boost how you smell especially if they are accompanied with your spray or cologne. Some of those detergents have scents that persist for days in clothes keep your closet smelling great at all the time. Was your towel too, every week.

7. Be careful of what you eat.

The kind of food you eat affects your scent. Food spices such as onions, garlic and onions are notorious for reacting with body fluids which emits odours through pores. This odour can last on your body for close to three days. Avoid such food spices and instead eat fresh foods such as vegetables and fruits. Green tea also has more health benefits than other beverages.

8. Dry your delicate areas.

This is a little deep but I had to mention it. Every time you take a bath ensure that your groin area is dried well with a towel. After drying, you can apply baby powder which would ensure freshness and free from sweat.

9. Dress in light clothes.

Give your skin space to breath. Your skin is a living organ. Avoid wearing tight clothes and for those who love fittings, dress well-fitted outfits.  Give your ‘delicates’ space to breathe by dressing light underpants. This is healthy and when complemented with other tips, will keep your body away from bad odor.

10. Take care of your hair.

Wash your head hair on daily basis and apply neutral hair conditioning fragrance. This keeps hair odour away. It also makes your hair look fresh and healthy. Tame your body hair around your nether regions. Trim those hairs down to aerate the skin in those areas. This curbs body odour too.
