Daily Monitor<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/nav><\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Introduction\"><\/span>Introduction<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>At the end of 2020, total internet connections in Uganda stood at 18.9 million, translating into a penetration rate of 46 internet connections for every 100 Ugandans. This makes Uganda one of the countries with the highest penetration rate in Africa according to <strong><a title=\"Internet World Stats\" href=\"https:\/\/www.internetworldstats.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Internet World Stats<\/a>. <\/strong>This means many Ugandans are using the internet to surf, connection, share information and communicate.<\/p>\n<p>Yet some of the most significant Uganda traffic generators are news websites. This means Ugandans love being up-to-date with current events. The seemingly little known website is actually a big hit on the web. Newslex point is a Ugandan based online news resource under Newslex Media Group.<\/p>\n<p>The site publishes both local and international stories in categories such as Business, Health, Sports, Technology, Politics, entertainment and many more.<\/p>\n<p>Today Newslexpoint is ranked number <strong>587,086 <\/strong>in the world and generates <strong>6,000<\/strong> unique visitors per month. The site makes a monthly revenue of <strong>UGX 210,000\/-.<\/strong> The site is valued at UGX <strong>4,200,000\/-.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4_Howwe_Biz\"><\/span>4. <a title=\"Howwe Biz\" href=\"https:\/\/www.howwebiz.ug\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Howwe Biz<\/a><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Howwebiz is one of the leading gossip sites in Uganda. It is known for publishing controversial stories and heresy using captivating titles and employing vigilance in social media marketing.<\/p>\n<p>Howwebiz, which is ranked number <strong>49,742<\/strong> in world and gets <strong>100,000<\/strong> visitors per month. It makes <strong>UGX 2,200,000\/-.<\/strong> It is valued at <strong>UGX 152,000,000\/-.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_The_Observer\"><\/span>3. <a title=\"The Observer\" href=\"https:\/\/observer.ug\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Observer<\/a><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The Observer a popularly visited Ugandan news website \u2013 a worthy competitor of the top 5 media houses in Uganda.<\/p>\n<p>With more Ugandans now becoming aware of the effects of monopoly, The Observer, the only formidable news source alternative to the big players (Daily Monitor and New Vision), is slowly gaining traction with an estimated <strong>186,000<\/strong> unique visitors monthly.<\/p>\n<p>The site which ranks at number <strong>85,967<\/strong> globally, makes <strong>UGX 1,270,000\/-<\/strong> per month and is valued at <strong>UGX 92,000,000\/-.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_New_Vision\"><\/span>2. <a title=\"New Vision\" href=\"https:\/\/www.newvision.co.ug\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New Vision<\/a><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Once the most visited website in Uganda, New vision lost its number #1 spot when the management switched the site to some unfriendly and unpopular technology. The site lost its Google rankings and it is a shadow of its former self. \u00a0Despite the lost loss of web traffic and ranking, the site continues to publishing great content which now attracts about <strong>480,000<\/strong> monthly visitors.<\/p>\n<p>The New Vision website ranks <strong>35,561 <\/strong>in the world and makes about <strong>UGX 3,000,000\/-<\/strong> per month. The site is valued at <strong>UGX 212,000,000\/-.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"1_Daily_Monitor\"><\/span>1. <a title=\"Daily Monitor\" href=\"https:\/\/www.monitor.co.ug\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Daily Monitor<\/a><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Owned by Nation Media Group, Daily Monitor is the biggest private owned newspaper in Uganda. Therefore it is not a surprise that their website also ranks as the most valuable website in Uganda.<\/p>\n<p>Originally, Daily Monitor focused on mainstream news to generate their content, but with the increased competition in online journalism, they diversified to every imaginable topic in Uganda. Their very high domain rank assures them great organic traffic no matter the type of content they publish.<\/p>\n<p>Daily monitor website is ranked <strong>24,883<\/strong> in the world and generates <strong>600,000<\/strong> unique visitors per month. It makes about <strong>UGX 4,600,000\/-<\/strong> per month.
